Ssingo County Donates Water Well to Buganda Kingdom as Kabaka Celebrates 71st Birthday

Ssingo County has donated a water well to the Buganda Kingdom as a birthday gift to His Majesty the Kabaka as he marks his 71st birthday.

The well, named “Kabaka Muwenda II Well,” was constructed at the Ssingo County headquarters in Mityana and officially commissioned by the Minister for Local Government, Kabaka’s visits, and External Affairs, Joseph Kawuki.

The project was implemented by partners under 25–35 Water, led by Cyler Kato and Dr Jackson Ssekikubo.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Minister Joseph Kawuki praised the partners for their generosity and commitment:

“I thank the partners for their generous hearts and dedication to serving the community.”

Kawuki also urged political leaders to focus on service that creates real impact:

“Leaders, especially those in politics, should always deliver service that brings meaningful change to the people, as demonstrated by Dr. Ssekikubo.”

Kawuki further encouraged residents to prioritize their wellbeing:

“I urge the people of Ssingo to take care of their health and make use of skilled professionals.”

The Ssingo County Chief, Mukwenda Deo Kagimu, expressed appreciation for the initiative and its impact:

“We are grateful for this support, and this well will help uplift the lives of the Kabaka’s people in Ssingo.”

He also announced plans to expand water access and improve infrastructure:

“We are launching a campaign to establish water sources across Ssingo and to construct a perimeter wall at the county headquarters.”

The ceremony was attended by Namasole Kanyange Sarah Namubiru, members of the Buganda Lukiiko, Ssingo County representatives, and school children.
